I've kept a journal, online or off, for a significant portion of my life. Mostly it helps me work through my ideas, and I usually feel better when I'm writing nearly every day. I've linked this blog to my academic profile, and I intend to create a space where I can analyze what I've been thinking about. I can't actually promise that it will be always about philosophy, but I was attracted to the discipline because I think I have an analytic bent of mind.
And wow does that sound pretentious.
Another thing writing regularly does is sort of sand down the generic phrases, the clunky sentences, the arrogant BS. Hopefully.
Social media has taken over my online browsing, but it's just not enough. It's mostly absorbing articles, news, blogs, and little tidbits that cannot go deeply into any issue.
I tend to be a little wordy, and a little meandering, so blogs and journals are the perfect form of self expression for me, though I'm not sure that anyone reading would feel the same. Perhaps regular writing will help me improve on that front as well.
We'll see, I guess!
